Close to Al-Sadr: Zidane's position is known regarding the dissolution of Parliament, and we are waiting for the decision from this side
Shafaq News/ A close response to the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, responded today, Sunday, to the statement of the Supreme Judicial Council regarding the latter's failure to have the power to dissolve the Iraqi parliament.
The close associate, who asked not to be named, told Shafak News Agency, "The position of the head of the Supreme Judicial Council, Judge Faiq Zaidan, regarding dissolving parliament is well known, and it is not new. He has confirmed and announced more than once that he does not have any authority to do so."
And, "We are waiting for the issue of dissolving the House of Representatives to be resolved by the Federal Supreme Court, not the Judicial Council, especially since there is a case that will be considered by the Federal at the end of this week."
And he, who is close to al-Sadr, said that "after resolving the case's position, the Sadrist movement will have a position on the popular escalation in the event that the case is rejected by the Federal Court (the highest judicial authority in Iraq)."
The Supreme Judicial Council confirmed earlier this morning that it was not within its authority to dissolve the Iraqi parliament, in response to the request of the leader of the Sadrist movement Muqtada al-Sadr in this regard.
On Wednesday, August 10, the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, asked the judicial authorities to work on dissolving the Iraqi parliament within a maximum period of the end of next week, urging at the same time the President of the Republic of Iraq, Barham Salih, to set a date for early legislative elections in country.

This is the second counter-demonstration out of the framework after the Sadrists stormed the Iraqi parliament building in protest against the nomination of the framework, Muhammad Shiaa al-Sudani for the position of Prime Minister.
The political scene in Iraq has undergone a dangerous turn since supporters of the Sadrist movement led by prominent Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr stormed the parliament building in the fortified Green Zone in central Baghdad, and staged a sit-in in protest against Al-Sudani's nomination for the position of head of the next federal government.
