Khazali comments on the resumption of parliament sessions with “blessing” of Al-Halbousi and Al-Mandalawi and condemning the bombing of Al-Khadra
Shafaq News/ The Secretary-General of Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq, Qais al-Khazali, blessed on Wednesday the renewal of confidence in Muhammad al-Halbousi as Speaker of the House of Representatives and his first deputy, and condemned the bombing of the Green Zone.
Khazali said in a tweet seen by Shafak News Agency, "We congratulate all our people for the parliament's return to carry out its work and perform its duties through its oversight and legislative role, and we congratulate the renewal of confidence for the Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Muhammad al-Halbousi, and we wish him to start a new page in parliamentary work."
He added, "We congratulate the brother, Deputy Mohsen Ali Akbar Al-Mandalawi, for his election as first deputy speaker of Parliament, placing our confidence in him in representing the largest component of parliament, performing his legislative tasks and activating the oversight role of the House of Representatives."
Khazali called on the opposition political forces to "start a new page and respond to the long-awaited demands and patience of our people in achieving political and security stability and the need to form a strong government that takes upon itself the benefit of the current financial abundance to serve our people and achieve their well-being."
Khazali condemned and denounced "terrorist and sabotage acts that targeted the Green Zone and its surrounding areas and assaulting the security forces," stressing "the necessity of applying the law accurately and firmly against anyone who tries to underestimate the blood of Iraqis and violates the sovereignty of the state."
The Secretary-General of Asa'ib renewed his "support and support for the security forces in carrying out their duty by forcefully confronting all attacks that threaten Iraqi civil peace."
Today, a massive demonstration took place in Tahrir Square in the center of the capital, Baghdad, in protest against the Parliament holding a session to vote on the resignation of Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi, and the deputies voted to reject the resignation.
During the session, the Green Zone was hit by three shells, one of which landed in the parliament garage, the other near the monument of the Unknown Soldier, and the third in another part of the area, injuring an officer and three members and causing material damage.
