Turkey aims to increase the volume of trade exchange with Iraq to $20 billion by the end of 2022
Shafaq News/ The head of the local government in Sulaymaniyah Governorate, Haval Abu Bakr, said on Friday that the State of Turkey aims to increase the volume of trade exchange with Kurdistan Region and the rest of Iraq to $20 billion by the end of this year.
This came in a speech he delivered during the trade and investment summit between Turkey and the Kurdistan Region, held in the Turkish city of Mersin.
Abu Bakr said in his speech that in the past years, trade relations between the region and Turkey have been strengthened, adding, "With regard to the Sulaymaniyah Governorate, in the past five years we have been able to expand the volume of trade exchange between the two sides and bring the largest number of companies to the province in cooperation with local traders." .
He added that the State of Turkey is working to increase the volume of trade exchange with the region and the rest of Iraq's regions and cities to $20 billion by the end of 2022, indicating that the volume of trade exchange between the two countries reached $11 billion until last July.
Abu Bakr also indicated that 8,000 housing units were purchased in Turkey by residents in the region and the rest of Iraq's governorates, stressing that the number of Iraqi tourists coming to Turkey has increased by a very large percentage.
In turn, the Minister of Administration for the Affairs of the Components Affairs in the Kurdistan Region, Aydin Maarouf, said in a speech during the summit, that the relations between the Kurdistan Region and Turkey have reached a very good level and are moving towards more development and strength, stressing that this is in the interest of the citizens and the entire region.
He also said that the Kurdistan Region, in terms of political and security, has a very good stability, including we invite merchants and investors in Turkey to visit the region and participate in commercial activities and events.
