Shafaq News/ A political official in Kirkuk revealed, on Saturday, agreements and understandings to rearrange the conditions of Kirkuk, achieve balance and end manifestations of national marginalization after the formation of the new government.
A member of the administrative body of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Luqman Abdul Latif Kaki, told Shafaq News Agency, "Kirkuk will witness changes in the administrative system to ensure the rights and entitlements of all components within the province away from marginalization and exclusivity by any component during the post-formation phase of the new government in accordance with agreements and consensus among all components in Kirkuk and its political references.
Kaki indicated that "the Kurdish component, which occupies 6 parliamentary seats, did not get its political and electoral entitlement in Kirkuk, and the current governor has held this position for five years and has exceeded the prescribed period for occupying the position, which requires changing the governor to avoid the expansion of corruption in Kirkuk."
He added, "Kirkuk coexisted socially and peacefully throughout the years preceding the October events, and it is an example of miniature Iraq despite national and sectarian diversity," stressing "the need to restore the administrative balance to Kirkuk and choose a governor who represents all components without any marginalization or discrimination."
According to observers, the events that took place in Kirkuk province after the referendum on Kurdistan independence in 2017, led to major administrative changes in all institutions, which caused the disruption of the provincial council and the legislative authority, and the outstanding problems in the province have not been resolved so far.
