    Today, Monday, the Ministry of Electricity confirmed the government's interest in diversifying energy sources and proceeding with electrical interconnection projects, while referring to work to prepare Iraq for its entry into an important member of the energy market.
    "There is an interest from the Council of Ministers and the Minister of Electricity to diversify energy sources and proceed with electrical interconnection projects and diversify them, to achieve high reliability and stability of the network," ministry spokesman Ahmed Musa told the Iraqi News Agency.
    Moussa added, "The purpose of electrical interconnection and achieving this reliability is to prepare Iraq for its entry into an important member of the energy market," noting that "electrical interconnection with neighboring countries will be a reason for exchanging energy benefits, and this is what is important."
    He stressed, "The ministry is keen to follow up on solar energy projects and contracts signed with international companies," noting that "the ministry is keen to establish solar energy stations distributed to all governorates."
    He continued, "These steps are important in light of the global trend to reduce the carbon footprint, and not rely solely on fossil fuels, and they are reasons for diversifying energy sources."
