    The Ministry of Construction and Housing announced, on Tuesday, its readiness to conclude a contract with Nineveh Governorate to supervise the construction of a new train station in Mosul, which will be the largest in the country.
    "The construction project for the new Mosul station is included in the package of projects that the ministry is preparing to supervise in Nineveh Governorate," said Assistant Director of the Engineering Reconstruction Department at the ministry, Muhammad Haider al-Sakani, in a statement reported by the official newspaper.
    Al-Sakni added, "The department is currently in the stage of concluding a contract with its local government in order for the resident engineer to undertake his work for this purpose."
    And Iraq concluded, at the beginning of this year, a contract with the Italian company (PEG) to prepare designs for railway lines and rail links for modern trains that start from Al-Faw, passing through Basra, then Baghdad, to the Turkish border, with a length of 1220 km.
    The old Mosul station, which was established in 1935, was subjected to almost complete destruction, in addition to the severe damage that affected the railway lines arriving at or departing from it, during the battles to liberate the city from the defilement of the terrorist gangs of "ISIS" in 2017, before the staff of the Iraqi railway company managed to , from the re-operation of the (Baghdad-Mosul) line during the past year.
