Baghdad / Obelisk: The leader of the Unified Anbar Alliance, Muhammad Dahham, said, on Saturday, January 7, 2023, the intention of the governor of Anbar, Ali al-Dulaimi, to run in the upcoming elections in isolation from Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi, suggesting that al-Halbousi will not get a third term in Parliament.
Dahham said in an interview, "Al-Halbousi will not be able to obtain a third term as president of parliament, and that electoral alliances will change in the future," stressing that "Al-Halbousi will not get what he wants."
He added, "The governor of Anbar, Ali al-Dulaimi, will participate in the upcoming elections with a political list different from al-Halbousi," noting that "the upcoming elections will witness the emergence of 5 political blocs in Anbar."
And he pointed out that "there will be a strong Sunni alliance in Anbar during the upcoming elections, and there will be independence for some of the parties affiliated with the Sovereignty Alliance after distributing the special grades"?
An informed political source had previously revealed, in a statement, the intention of the current governor of Anbar, Ali Farhan al-Dulaimi, to defect from the Taqaddam party headed by Muhammad al-Halbousi.
The former Minister of Planning and leader of the Unified Anbar Alliance, Salman al-Jumaili, revealed that a number of members of the coalition had submitted a complaint to the concerned authorities against electronic armies that a party had used to overthrow its rivals in Anbar province.
Al-Jumaili said, in a press statement, that “electronic armies run by loyalists of the Progressive Party in Anbar launched a media campaign to bring down members of the Unified Anbar Alliance through publications and false narratives, which called on the targeted leaders to file a complaint with the concerned authorities to take legal measures against them, since these accusations are unfounded. .”
However, the leader of the State Administration Coalition, Muzahim Al-Huweit, reads the events in the exact opposite, telling Al-Masalla that the Unified Anbar Alliance is a political alliance for the sake of interests, and does not represent all of the Sunni Arab component, nor Al-Anbar, indicating that the coalition is trying to market itself as the alternative, but it is rejected in the western regions.
Al-Huweit said in a special statement to Al-Masalla that the Unified Anbar Alliance is supported by suspicious external parties seeking to fragment the Sunni Arab component and create sectarian strife with the Shiites as well, in addition to its attempt to fuel disputes and impede reconstruction and development.
He added that the State Administration Coalition, the Sovereignty Coalition, the Kurdistan Democratic Party, and most political parties support the leadership of Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi for the Sunni Arab component, and we are with him, indicating that al-Halbousi is the most popular and desirable in the western provinces, contrary to what the Anbar Coalition is promoting.
He added that the Sunni Arab leaders who succeeded in previous eras did not rebuild the cities, but rather participated in their destruction by supporting terrorism, but al-Halbousi succeeded in rebuilding them, and made people aware of being with the state against ISIS and the politicians who supported terrorism such as Rafie al-Issawi, Jamal al-Karbouli, Jamal al-Dari, and the Azm Alliance, considering that the Sunni Arab street will not allow these people to return.
Al-Hwit stressed that there is a general trend, within the Sunni Arab component, supported by a popular will to hold the former Sunni Arab leaders accountable, for their role in supporting terrorism, plundering public money, and sabotaging infrastructure, indicating that they will be held accountable, legally, politically, and tribally as well.
A political struggle is evident in Anbar and the western regions, between the Unified Anbar Alliance and Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi and the forces supporting him. The Anbar coalition used to launch almost daily political and media campaigns against the influence of al-Halbousi in Anbar and other regions.
