Member of Parliament, Zaytoun Al-Dulaimi, confirmed, on Tuesday, that the issue of determining the exchange rate is entrusted to the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank, noting that Parliament does not have the power to set the exchange rate.
Al-Dulaimi said in a press statement, "The House of Representatives has the authority to calculate the price of a barrel of oil in the budget, but it does not have the authority to determine the exchange rate of the dollar against the Iraqi dinar."
She added, "The House of Representatives has concerns about the decline in international oil prices through its consultation with the relevant experts," stressing that "there is a parliamentary tendency to reduce the calculation of the price of a barrel to less than 60 dollars in the next budget."
Al-Dulaimi explained, "Determining the exchange rate of the dollar against the Iraqi dinar is related to the financial policy represented by the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank, and that Parliament does not have that authority."
