German Chancellor Olaf Scholz affirmed, on Friday, his country's support for the establishment of stable infrastructure for the electricity sector in Iraq.
"It was agreed on a work program for cooperation between Germany and Iraq," Schulz said, during a joint press conference with Prime Minister Muhammad Shia'a al-Sudani, stressing his country's support for diversifying the economy and sources of national income in the country.
He added, "His country's government supports the focus of the new government in Iraq on economic reforms and providing job opportunities," expressing his "welcome of the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity's agreement with Siemens to modernize the system in Iraq."
"We support the establishment of stable infrastructure for the electricity sector in Iraq," he stressed, noting that "Iraq could be a partner in the supply of oil and gas."
