Health launches registration on the health insurance law

More than a quarter of a million Iraqis working in state institutions - about 10% of state employees - enter the registration stage in electronic lists prepared in the first stage for employees of the three presidencies and about 100,000 who are covered by social protection network subsidies, within the framework of a project initiated by the Ministry of Health to implement the health insurance law. Which is reliable in starting a new phase of reforming the Iraqi health system.
And the House of Representatives approved the health insurance law in October 2020, to enter into force since that time and to be the first laws related to the provision of medical services, similar to all countries of the world.
A source in the Ministry of Health told "Al-Sabah" that the ministry "has taken all measures that speed up the implementation procedures of the law, as a special directorate for health insurance has been established," pointing out that "the file enjoys great care from the prime minister and follows it up directly."
The source also stated that the law "will not only serve the poor classes, but will also include all the people."
And the Minister of Health, Saleh Al-Hasnawi, announced on January 2 the start of work on the health insurance form, which will include 300,000 citizens who will be registered this year, stressing that the health insurance will bear all the costs of health insurance for the beneficiaries of social care.
The Parliamentary Health and Environment Committee, according to its member, Representative Majid Shankali, believed that the implementation of the law will improve the health situation in the country, as it is one of the pillars of the health reality, and this sector cannot be developed without it.
Shankali added, in an interview with "Al-Sabah", that "registration has already begun for those wishing through the electronic form amid serious government support after allocating the necessary amounts for this law in the 2023 budget," noting that "the implementation of the law has already begun in the capital, Baghdad, due to the availability of infrastructure, through Selection of 10% of state employees.
The capital, Baghdad, will be the first experimental station for implementing the program, as the law aims to provide services first to a number of employees of the three presidencies, and to identify the centers of the ministries that are capable of paying a number of covered 300,000 people, of whom 100,000 are covered by the social welfare system.
A member of the media medical team of the Ministry of Health, Ruba Falah, said in an interview with "Al-Sabah" that the law "aims to protect the citizen from unaffordable spending on health services, especially for those with limited income, through state assistance and participation by paying the bulk of the value of the services provided to the citizen." .
Falah described the launch of the health insurance fund as "will achieve the principle of social justice and social solidarity, reduce the financial burdens on citizens, and secure comprehensive health coverage for them."
The member of the media team concluded by saying: "The law will improve the quality of health and medical services provided, by regulating work in the public and private sectors, competition in medical services, and its positive impact on the pharmaceutical industry and its quality, and unifying drug pricing."
