    Today, Sunday, the Supreme Judicial Council issued a number of decisions.
    A statement of the Judicial Council, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated, “The Supreme Judicial Council held its first session, held at nine o'clock in the morning on Sunday, corresponding to 1/22/2023, headed by by the President of the Federal Court of Cassation, Faiq Zaidan.”
    The statement added, "During the session, it was:
    1. The son of the Council, the late Judge Ahmed Abdul-Jabbar Muhammad, who passed away due to a terminal illness, and the retired Public Prosecutor, the late Diaa Abdul-Amir Imran.
    2. The council discussed the preparations that were made for the celebration of the Iraqi Judiciary Day on 1/23/2023, and it emphasized that the ceremony should be shown in a manner befitting the status of the Iraqi judiciary.
    3. The Council approved the promotion of a number of judges and members of the Public Prosecution Office and the granting of judicial positions that require the approval of formations in some presidencies of appeal, according to the proposal submitted by the Presidency of Appeals. The transfer and assignment of a number of judges and members of the Public Prosecution Office was also approved based on the requirements of the public interest.
    4. The Council approved draft instructions to facilitate the implementation of the provisions of Article (56/First and Second) of the Judicial Organization Law No. (160) of 1979, as amended.
