Shafaq News/ On Sunday, the three main parties in the Kurdistan Region (the Kurdistan Democratic Party, the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, and the Movement for Change) agreed on the need to hold legislative elections in the region during the year 2023.
In this regard, Hiwa Ahmed Mustafa, a member of the political bureau of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, said in a statement he made to reporters today: We do not want this year to pass without holding elections, adding that it is important for us that the elections be fair and transparent.

"Parties and parliamentary blocs can amend the election law as they see fit," he added.
In turn, Kardo Muhammad, a leader in the Change Movement, said in a speech he hosted at a forum for dialogue between the political parties in the region sponsored by the Kurdistan Youth Union, that the Kurdistan Region needs one authority, not multiple ones.
And Muhammad considered, "holding elections is the only way to overcome the current situation that the region is going through," noting that "the Kurdish leaders should understand with one will the situation and end the problems by resorting to another way, which is the people and elections, as the people will determine through the ballot boxes who runs the helm of government." in the province.”
During the same forum, a member of the Political Bureau of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Saadi Birah, said; His party is ready to run in the elections, pointing to the importance of adopting voter registration lists with the Independent High Commission for Iraqi Elections in the Kurdistan Parliament elections.
"The Kurdistan region must be divided into four electoral districts, so that we can proceed with the polling this year," Bireh added, during his hosting of the forum.
