    Today, Thursday, (Baghdad Today) publishes the text of the speech of Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani, during his launch of preparing the food basket for those covered by the social protection network.
    Below are the most important things that came in the speech of the Prime Minister, Muhammad Shayaa Al-Sudani, during his launch of preparing the food basket for those covered by the social protection network, who number about five million and one hundred thousand people:

    _Since the start of the government, we have made it clear that one of its most important priorities included in the ministerial curriculum and the executive program is to fight the phenomenon of poverty that we targeted with practical measures, not just plans.

    _ There is a special basket for families below the poverty line who receive cash assistance from the social protection network.

    Securing this food basket in quantity and quality would address poverty for families who have no income other than what they receive from subsidies from the social protection network.

    _ Our mission as a government is how to keep these families in the face of prices and secure the items of the ration card so that it helps them to perpetuate their living conditions.
    _ When the exchange rate was changed in the 2021 budget, there were no direct measures to protect the poor classes, so the impact of changing the exchange rate was great on this group.

    _ Today, with the exchange rate fluctuations, the impact will definitely be greater and deeper, with the presence of those who took advantage of this situation related to the exchange rate.

    _ The rise in the exchange rate of the dollar at the present time was not a government decision, but rather a mechanism agreed upon between the financial institutions and the central bank, to rationalize the process of selling the dollar through the window of selling the currency that we used to criticize because of the waste and money that comes out under the cover of illegal trade, smuggling and money laundering.

    _ We used to sell 300 million dollars per day, and all economists and specialists stand unable to explain what Iraq imports, until it sells daily with this number.

    _ What materials enter the Iraqi market in order to transfer money to companies and banks, most of which use forged invoices, to get this important monetary block out of Iraq?

    _ After the central bank’s commitment to the new mechanism, and the provision of the dollar for real businessmen and trademen who already import materials needed by the local market, there is no justification for raising the prices of imported materials, as the dollar is available at the official price of 1460 dinars, and it can be obtained to cover imports, so why resort to the black market?

    _ I assure our people that there is no concern in this aspect, and it is just a conflict in the prices of my time.

    _ We are serious about applying the correct standards that guarantee the preservation of public money, and the prevention of smuggling, money laundering and speculation, and we will not tolerate any party, official or unofficial, in the issue of citizens' sustenance.

    _ The state is able and has the financial, administrative and legal capabilities to go to the markets and provide all the materials that the Iraqi market needs.

    _ We can work and play the roles of merchants, and we have the legal framework and material capabilities, and today the financial situation of Iraq is at its best.

    _When we began our work in the government, we did not have a stock of flour in the stores sufficient for half a month; As for the ration card items, they were in the zero stage and without storage, while the emergency food security law was legislated in order to secure the storage of the ration card items.

    _ We have many ways to import foodstuffs and what the Iraqi market needs, and we will be able to control this speculation, and provide materials for all the poor and middle groups.
