The Ministry of Commerce provided a stock of wheat after securing the import of 800,000 tons of it from solid origins, and began discussing preparations for marketing the crop for the next season.

The official spokesman for the Ministry of Commerce, Muhammad Hanoun, told Al-Sabah that 3 ships loaded with wheat arrived at the ports from solid origins, and 6 other ships will arrive later this month to secure the items of the food basket.
He added that the Minister of Commerce instructed a plan to open 6 outlets in the capital, 3 in Basra, and another similar one in Nineveh, as well as 12 new outlets in the governorates to sell foodstuffs at reduced prices.
He pointed out that the General Company for Grain Processing started opening the way for expanding commercial activity and coordinating with the private sector to provide flour and put it on the local market at competitive prices to prevent monopoly.
He continued that the General Company for Grain Trade discussed the initial preparations for the start of the next marketing season for wheat and the need of the company’s branches and sites for storage capacities and laboratory equipment, securing manpower that contributes to the marketing process, and announcing the purchase prices for this season while providing funds for the purpose of distributing them among marketers, indicating that The company secured the purchase of more than 800,000 tons of imported wheat.
In Diwaniyah, the director of commercial control in the province, Sahib Bandar, told Al-Sabah: The branch of the Ministry of Commerce has started opening direct sales outlets for four foodstuffs at subsidized prices, especially after their prices increased in the local markets.
He continued that the current sale included flour, chicken, eggs and milk, stressing the endeavor of the General Directorate of Foodstuff Trade to open direct sales outlets in the districts and districts during the coming period.
