Today, Friday, the Ministry of Electricity revealed an important project in Anbar that is fully supplied with national gas, while it outlined its projects in four provinces.
The Director General of the General Company for Electricity Production, Central Region, Ali Ahmed, told the official news agency, “We have completed a set of major projects, during the previous periods, within the geographical area represented by four governorates, which are Baghdad, Anbar, Diyala, and Wasit Al-Harriyah, as two units (Frame 9) were completed and operated in Anbar Governorate.” In the district of Al-Qaim, these units operate with natural gas and are equipped by the Crutch field in the same area. The other project is the activation of the Anbar project, which consists of six units with a production capacity of 1642 megawatts.
Ahmed added, “The project was one of the projects that were suspended due to the terrorist ISIS gangs during the previous period, and it started in 2013 in implementation of a contract signed with joint companies, and it was activated again through the Chinese framework agreement and the work of an appendix to the contract with the Chinese SEPCO company, and it is currently under completion and the timing of its completion.” It will last for 3 years, and the second benefit of this project is that it works with the Iraqi national gas, and it is also equipped from the Akkas field, which covers the installed Anbar stations, as well as for the two units of the Akkas gas station, which are two units (Frame 9, 250) megawatts.
And he continued: “We have a project to develop a crutch station from (simple cycle) units to complex units, and approvals have been obtained to direct monopoly invitations to specialized companies, and the rest are complementary procedures (guiding offer and study), after which the project is initiated, and we have other projects that include rehabilitation and maintenance of the units represented by Wasit station, And also comprehensive maintenance, given that this station began operating almost ten years ago, and it deserved some major activities that return its loads from its current load, which is around 90%, and return it to a load of 100%, in addition to its durability, continuity, and increased reliability.
Ahmed stated, “According to the technical schedules approved by the manufacturers, we have other projects represented in rehabilitating units by concluding a contract with foreign companies, including the Croatian company Koncher, to rehabilitate Haditha Dam units, which was neglected during previous periods due to the terrorist situation that the region in particular and Iraq was exposed to.” year, in addition to the maintenance programs that have been implemented and are being implemented continuously during the previous and subsequent periods, despite the scarce financial liquidity due to the delay in approving budgets during the past two years.
