    Today, Friday, Prime Minister Mohamed Shia Al-Sudani discussed with the Secretary-General of Interpol the activation of bilateral cooperation in the field of recovering funds and wanted persons.


    The media office of the Prime Minister said in a statement received by Alsumaria News, "The Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia'a Al-Sudani, met with the Secretary-General of the International Criminal Police Organization, Interpol, Jürgen Stock. During the meeting, Al-Sudani stressed that theft of public money is one of the most important challenges facing Iraq, and that combating Corruption is among the priorities of the government programme.






    He added, "Al-Sudani indicated that the government's procedures require cooperation from the organization, especially in the matter of dealing with requests that are submitted regarding financial crimes." In addition to being one of the most important enablers of terrorism, stressing that retrieving those wanted for these crimes is one of the most important steps to deter this crime.

    The Prime Minister referred to "the government's measures in securing the Iraqi borders and fully connecting them to Interpol services, and called on the International Organization of Interpol to provide support in the field of training and capacity building for the cadres working at the headquarters and the newly established Interpol offices at the border crossings, as well as cooperation in the field of exchanging security information." With the member countries of the international organization, and in the field of supporting financial crime investigations related to money laundering and terrorist financing, and the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).

    Al-Sudani expressed: "Iraq's desire to make the most of the fields provided by the Interpol organization, and to contribute to the dissemination of all blue and green notifications, for perpetrators of terrorism crimes, especially the information that is shared in the Interpol databases within the Foreign Terrorist Fighters project," inviting the Secretary. year to visit Iraq as soon as possible.

    For his part, the Secretary General of Interpol expressed "the organization's readiness to cooperate with Iraq in the field of urging countries to recover stolen funds, wanted persons and those convicted of corruption cases."
