From an urgent note from the Central Committee of the Iraqi Communist Party to the United Nations, the European Union, the Arab League, the Islamic Conference, international organizations defending human rights, and all organizations, parties, and international public opinion circles:
In these extremely dangerous circumstances, we turn to you and invite you to:
Exercising pressure to stop the war, ending the American monopoly on the Iraqi cause, and returning to international legitimacy and the United Nations within the framework of its responsibilities for maintaining peace and security in the world.
– Urgent action with the aim of securing food, medicine and other basic needs for the Iraqi people and working to lift the economic sanctions on our Iraqi people.
Ensuring the implementation of the Geneva Convention, protecting Iraqi civilians and infrastructure, and respecting Iraqi human rights in accordance with relevant international agreements and treaties.
Deployment of United Nations human rights monitors in Iraq, who are tasked with preventing violations committed against Iraqi civilians, in addition to urgently investigating the fate of thousands of political prisoners and detainees, and saving their lives from the threat of physical liquidation at the hands of the Iraqi regime under the cover of war.
Rejecting the American invasion, occupation, and military rule, and securing the right of our people to self-determination and choosing the alternative form of government for the rejected regime according to its free will, without tutelage and hegemony from any side.
Calling for an international conference under the auspices of the United Nations, and with the participation of representatives of the Iraqi national and democratic parties and forces, to address the Iraqi file in all its aspects, block the way for the disasters and tragedies of the war, and open horizons for addressing the issue based on international legitimacy and in a way that secures a radical democratic change in our country.
Protecting Iraq's national wealth and resources, especially oil, as they belong to the Iraqi people, who alone have the right to dispose of them through their democratically elected constitutional institutions, and to protect Iraq's unity and sovereignty.
– Supporting the endeavor of our Iraqi people to form a broad-based coalition transitional national government that would release democratic freedoms and create the conditions and requirements for free elections under the supervision of the United Nations, as an essential step on the road to building a constitutional democratic Iraq.
