    Today, Thursday, the President of the Republic, Dr. Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, affirmed his full support for the Faili Kurds cause and their demands.

    The media office of the Presidency of the Republic stated in a statement, "Adviser to the President of the Republic, Abdullah Aliawi, delivered the speech of the President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Rashid, during his participation in the international scientific conference on the genocide of the Kurdish nation (the genocide of the Faili Kurds) held in Erbil."

    Aliawi said: "I convey to you the greetings of the President of the Republic Abd al-Latif Jamal Rashid and his blessing for your conference and his wishes for success, and the president affirms his full support for the Faili Kurds cause and their demands, and he wished to participate in the conference, but his prior commitments prevented that."

    The text of the President's speech read:

    The campaign of group extermination against the Faili Kurds was one of the most severe cases of injustice and persecution that the Kurds were subjected to at the hands of the defunct regime, whose sinful hand extended to most of the Kurdish areas. For its crimes, it targeted the city of Halajah, which it bombed with chemical weapons and destroyed thousands of Kurdish villages, in addition to the killing of tens of thousands of innocent people in the Anfal operations. The infamous, as well as the killing, disappearance and displacement of thousands of Barzanis for no fault of their own, and organized demographic change campaigns in more than one Kurdish region.

     43 years have passed since the issuance of deportation, the stripping of Iraqi nationality from the Faili Kurds, the execution and displacement of thousands by throwing them at the international borders after the confiscation of their property and leaving them in the harshest conditions, so that hundreds would die in a journey of torment without the hand of mercy being extended to them, as the grave tyrant proved his racism, sectarianism, and criminality, he and his party by committing that crime After intermittent episodes of displacement and denationalization that began since the Baath Party came to power in 1968, it is unfortunate that many governments and international organizations did not care at that time about the victims of the heinous crime that violated all international laws, human rights regulations, and religious and moral teachings.

    And this silence was the green light that the criminal regime took advantage of to unleash its bloody tyranny in all directions inside Iraq, especially against the Kurdish people, and to extend its criminality to the peoples of neighboring countries. Iraq, and they contributed to building its cities and institutions, and their cultural role was pivotal in shaping the Iraqi memory, and their economic impact is no less than that. Prominent in the various confrontation fronts and the many ideological addresses.

    The Faili Kurds were the first victims of the Baath regime, but they did not receive the appropriate level of justice until today. Rather, they unfortunately face a new injustice, whether by delaying their obtaining their rights or by not giving their human tragedy sufficient attention culturally, in the media and scientifically.

    There are those who still defend the policy of the grave tyrant and justify his crimes. Therefore, your conference is of great importance in shedding light on the suffering of the Faili Kurds and documenting the injustice they were subjected to, in order to introduce new generations to this tragedy and write it down in the popular and human memory, along with the major crimes against humanity committed by the tyrants.
