Trade: The Prime Minister took “important decisions” to support the food basket

The Ministry of Commerce revealed that "important decisions" were taken by Prime Minister Mohamed Shiaa Al-Sudani related to securing full financial allocations to support and continue the items of the food basket, while Minister Atheer Al-Ghurairy announced the launch of a catering application in cooperation with the World Food Organization as part of the electronic ration card project.
Al-Ghurairy said in a press conference from Najaf Governorate: "The Tamwini application was launched in cooperation with the World Food Organization within the electronic ration card project," noting that "citizens can carry out ration operations by transferring, deleting, adding, and completing this through a mobile phone." "Provide awareness programs to explain the program and facilitate it for citizens," praising "the role of the Food Organization," explaining that "by order of the Prime Minister, the program will be available in all governorates." Regarding the food basket, the ministry's official spokesman, Muhammad Hanoun, explained to "Al-Sabah": "The Prime Minister took a number of decisions related to securing the items of the food basket, in addition to flour, and securing financial allocations to support the food basket project, its quality and readiness on an ongoing basis and at a fixed date, stressing the provision of food stocks in the Ministry’s stores sufficient for the next three months to be distributed during the food basket in six Mophradat, and imports are still continuing.
He added, "The Prime Minister demanded, within the ministry's new curriculum, that it enter as a trader without profits into the market in cooperation with the private sector by providing foodstuffs at cost price or a little more and blocking the way for speculators and monopolists, and this came through the opening of 3 marketing outlets in Baghdad, and two centers will be opened." Two new outlets on both sides of Karkh and Rusafa soon, in addition to the presence of 3 outlets in some governorates, while three new marketing outlets will be opened in the coming days in the governorates of Kirkuk, Diwaniyah and Salah al-Din. Hanoun pointed out that "the number of those registered within the social protection program is 5 million and 400 thousand people." They receive a regular food basket and an additional food basket with six items.
