When politics is poured into the basket of the economy, the features of the outputs are evident at the level of national income, per capita income, and what is between them in terms of items and links related to services and welfare, and before them the business environment.
Through decades in which the economic mind identified with the political mind, this resulted in a rentier entity that bought political positions, as the economy was poured into the basket of politics without objection from the cultural mind or an indication of a defect in the use of resources and energies in favor of those holding power, and this approach continued as a right for those who assume power. The forefront, until it became a given in the societal unconscious, and we never felt that we got out of the stereotype of employing the economy in favor of politics despite the space of freedom that we enjoyed during twenty years, due to the series of events and the harshness of the scene resulting from factors of interference and continuous political tensions.
Today, after a visit by the Emir of the State of Qatar to Baghdad, the government announced the signing of a joint list of intent with the Qatari side, which included six items, five of which are in the economic aspect, in addition to a large number of agreements and memorandums of cooperation in the fields of investment and trade cooperation, especially in the way of development, and the formation of a special team To follow up on various joint projects, raise the level of investment and economic cooperation in the field of energy (oil, gas, renewable energy), activate and facilitate investment procedures and mobility between the two countries, and enhance cooperation in the field of climate and environment.
The two sides also signed two agreements in the fields of air and maritime transport, and on the sidelines of the visit, a number of memorandums of cooperation were also signed in the field of energy related to crude oil and supplying Iraq with liquefied gas, a memorandum of cooperation to establish a joint oil company and another related to the establishment of a refinery, and in the field of investment it was signed The National Investment Commission in Iraq signed four memorandums of cooperation with three Qatari companies, including two memorandums of cooperation with an investment company known as “Qatari Holding” in the field of developing new cities, building and developing hotels, in addition to signing agreements between the private sector in Iraq and the Qatari private sector. Discussing regional initiatives to enhance relations between the countries of the region, including the electrical interconnection project.
On the basis of this large package of agreements and memorandums of cooperation, it can be said that there is a new vision that has taken its way in the right direction to invest the available energies and resources away from the typical employment of the economy in favor of politics, and it is important here that these common intentions expand with other countries with experiences and energies that can add It does not constitute a burden to us, and the most important thing is to take the right steps to put these agreements and memorandums into effect as soon as possible.
