Today, Tuesday, the governor of Baghdad, Muhammad Jaber Al-Atta, announced the start of constructing alternative roads at the entrance to Baghdad - Mosul, starting next Thursday.
A statement by the media and government communication department in the province stated, "The governor instructed the establishment of additional alternative roads dedicated to heavy loads and the movement of trucks, until the completion of work on the Baghdad-Mosul entrance road project in order to speed up the pace of work and maintain the flow of traffic without any obstacles, starting from Thursday." The statement quoted Al-Atta as saying, "The first road will start from the Al-Nabai quarry area, and it is designated for vehicles loaded with construction materials, and the second road will start from Samarra (Nazim Al-Tharthar area) for cars coming from the north loaded with other goods, to reach other roads in coordination with the concerned authorities."
Al-Atta indicated, according to the statement, that "the work is escalating and has exceeded the specified times, and work will continue with quarrying, excavation, and road casting works in Al-Farshah over a period of (24) hours, and continuously by increasing work periods, for the purpose of accelerating the pace of completion, within the specified technical specifications."
