    The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan confirmed the support of the government of Muhammad al-Sudani in passing the oil and gas law during the coming period, while stressing that the law will impose control and management of the central government on the file of oil and gas extraction and export.
    “The draft law has been in the House of Representatives since 2007, and the time has come to approve it now,” said Union leader Burhan Sheikh Raouf, in a press interview seen by “Takadum.” Noting that “approving the law will end the differences between the region and the central government.”
    And he continued, "The law will guarantee the distribution of wealth to all segments of society without monopolizing it from a certain side without the other of the Iraqi people," stressing that "the National Union is a major supporter of the government of Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani in passing the oil and gas law."
    And Sheikh Raouf concluded his speech: “Sudani’s supervision of the legal approval will have a major role in overcoming the previous obstacles that prevented its passage,” adding that “the law will help the central government impose its control over the oil and gas extraction and export file.”
    The oil and gas law is one of the issues that raised controversy between Erbil and Baghdad for many years, causing Iraq to lose billions of dollars as a result. The regional government was committed to exporting oil in isolation from the central government and the national SOMO company, but it was agreed to pass this draft law between the two parties within the framework of a political agreement that led to the formation of the current government.
