    [size=45]The Ministry of Communications clarified that it is the body implementing orders to block websites and media agencies issued by judicial authorities or competent bodies.[/size]
    [size=45]The ministry said in a statement: “In reference to what was circulated by some media outlets today regarding the blocking of websites and the exaggeration and inaccuracy that accompanied it, the Ministry of Communications would like to clarify to public opinion that it is committed to the law and the applicable instructions.”[/size]
    [size=45]He added that “the blocking is done in accordance with final and binding judicial decisions or official requests from the Communications and Media Commission, the security services, or the higher authorities in the government or parliament, because the ministry is only a technical executive body that possesses the necessary devices for blocking.”[/size]
    [size=45]The ministry confirmed that it “is not the one who makes the decision to block websites or not, noting that the ABC channel is not licensed according to the official position we received from the Communications and Media Commission.”[/size]
    [size=45]Earlier today, the Nakheel Center for Press Rights and Freedoms praised a judicial decision stripping the Ministry of Communications of the authority to block websites and media agencies.[/size]
    [size=45]The center said in a statement: “The Nakheel Center for Press Rights and Freedoms appreciates the decision of the Judicial Supervision Authority that the Ministry of Communications is not authorized to block websites and media agencies, as it falls within the jurisdiction of the Communications and Media Commission, and that its decision can be appealed within 30 days from the date of its issuance.”[/size]
    [size=45]He added, "While the center commends this important step by the esteemed Iraqi judiciary, we consider it an important step to block the path of some government agencies that are striving to adapt and exploit legal texts to silence mouths and target other opinions."[/size]
