    Today, Tuesday, the Parliamentary Finance Committee stressed the need to diversify the country's revenue sources, while stressing the importance of automating the system of the Tax Authority and electronic payment.
    The media department of the House of Representatives said in a statement, "The Finance Committee, headed by Representative Atwan Al-Atwani and in the presence of a number of committee members, hosted the Director General of the Tax Authority, Ali Waad Allawi, to discuss the work of the authority based on the supervisory side in following up on the departments affiliated to it."
    Al-Atwani stressed, according to the statement, the necessity of diversifying revenue sources and not relying on oil resources only, pointing to the dependence of many countries on taxes, while Iraq relies heavily on oil, stressing the importance of automating the system of the Tax Authority and electronic payment in way to achieve a quantum leap by increasing revenues.
    The statement added, "The committee listened to a number of ideas and proposals to contribute to organizing tax work, in addition to the problems facing the authority's administration, the most important of which is the failure of some companies to recover the taxes they owed, while the director general of the authority pointed out the focus of efforts to rebalance the authority, as well as to rehabilitate managing its affiliates.
    The statement pointed out that "the Director General of the Authority, Ali Waad, reviewed the growth rate in increasing tax collection for a number of governorates compared to the previous period, in addition to the secretariats collected at customs and border crossings."
    And the statement continued, "The issue of amending the laws related to the automation of the digital tax system was discussed, as it needs legislation, with the bringing in of specialized companies, as the Director General of the Tax Authority indicated raising the draft amendment of the law in order to refer it to the House of Representatives for a vote on it in order to end the paper system and reduce red tape." .
