The Ministry of Communications achieved 300 percent of the implementation of the optical cable project during the first half of this year.
The ministry’s official spokesman, Omar Al-Amiri, told Al-Sabah: This percentage was recorded after the technical and engineering monitoring of the ministry’s specialists during the past six months, which will pave the way for the completion of its remaining stages in the planned manner without any obstacles.
He added that the Ministry has identified an increase in the pace of project implementation work in the areas covered by it in light of the intensified efforts of the implementing teams and companies, as the Ministry has achieved a rate that exceeds the plan included in the government program for implementation.

Al-Ameri explained that the Minister of Communications is working to expand the geographical area of the project through its complementary stages and upcoming implementation work to cover the largest area in the project and deliver optical cable services to citizens in a manner consistent with the technological developments taking place and proportional to the amount of their use of it, in addition to determining the appropriate subscription cost.
The Ministry of Communications announced during the past period an increase in the number of subscribers in the areas where the project was implemented during the past years after removing violations
on its infrastructure.
