The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan’s support for the central government is not new, while the opponent, the Kurdistan Democratic Party, sees that Yekti’s movements towards Baghdad come within the framework of hostility to him and a difference of opinion from him, nothing more, while the Kurdistan Union is flirting with the federal government, stressing that it is “strategic depth.  ” "For the region.
The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan often demands representation in the region's delegations sent to Baghdad to resolve outstanding issues, accusing the Democratic Party of "marginalizing" it.
On (August 19, 2023), the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan refused to allow Kurdish delegations to go to Baghdad to discuss important files, such as the financial budget, in the absence of its representatives, while describing the current delegations as “partisan government.”
He is known for his positions in support of the federal government. The National Union confirmed its support for the decision to hand over the oil file to Baghdad, according to informed political sources.

Sorgi added to "Baghdad Today", "Although the Union is a national party concerned with Kurdish issues, it believes that the solution to Kurdistan's problems lies in the federal capital, Baghdad."

Sorgi points out, “Kurdistan’s many problems are not solved in regional or global countries, and we differ from other Kurdish parties that implement the agendas of different countries,” adding, “We believe in the interest of the people of Kurdistan and their solution through Baghdad, so there are many visits constantly by delegations from the Union.” To the capital,” he said .

    Power parties

The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan considers the city of Sulaymaniyah and its suburbs its main place of influence, and it is led by Bafel Talabani, the eldest son of its former leader and founder, Jalal Talabani, who enjoys strong relations with Iran and strong relations with Baghdad .
While the Kurdistan Democratic Party is considered the "old enemy" and "temporary friend" of the Patriotic Union, and they have fluctuating relations according to political events and crises, amid mutual accusations of marginalization and monopolization of power from time to time.
Observers of political affairs believe that "the closeness between Baghdad and the Kurdistan Union is due to the latter's proximity to Iran, which has strong relations with the federal government."
