With the Central Bank continuing to lack control over the dollar exchange rate on the black market and the ineffectiveness of all measures taken by the Central Bank and the government in closing the large gap between the official and parallel rates, attention is turning towards the dismissal of the Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, Ali Al-Alaq, from his position.
A member of the Finance Committee, Yousef Al-Kalabi, said in a press interview seen by “Taqaddam” that “there is a parliamentary move within the Finance Committee to dismiss the Governor of the Central Bank for his failure to control the dollar exchange rate and its continued rise.”
He added, “The Finance Committee will determine at its meeting today the date for questioning the governor and will discuss the issue of his removal from his position.”
The dollar continues its continuous rise on the black market after the selling price of 100 dollars reached 163 thousand dinars, a difference of 30 thousand dinars from the official price.
