The leader of the Victory Coalition, Aqeel Al-Rudaini, confirmed today, Sunday (December 10, 2023), that the Framework Forces authorized Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani to pursue those targeting diplomatic missions in Baghdad.
Al-Rudaini said in an interview with "Baghdad Today", "Targeting the American embassy in Baghdad is a violation of diplomatic norms, given that its presence came in accordance with the contents of international treaties and conventions. It is an unacceptable attack that directly harms the reputation of Iraq and its government, which is concerned with providing protection for all diplomatic missions and consulates in the country."
He added, "Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani realized the seriousness of the situation and held an urgent meeting with the framework forces," noting that "the latter authorized him to conduct an immediate investigation and prosecute the perpetrators," expecting "quick results to be issued because the attacks were not claimed by any political forces and therefore It represents a threat to the entire political process, not to mention its repercussions on the situation of the Iraqi people if embassies and consulates are evacuated and Baghdad becomes isolated regionally and internationally and the impact of this on the economic, investment, reconstruction and trade dimensions.”
He pointed out that "whatever the reasons, targeting diplomatic missions is unacceptable, noting that our solidarity with the events in Gaza is firm, but provided that the matter is in a way that does not lead the country to a difficult and difficult situation," pointing out that whoever targeted the missions does not realize the danger of his action to the people. Iraq as a whole.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani's  statement about targeting the American embassy contained angry expressions, while describing the matter as a "terrorist act."
