    Today, Sunday, the Iraqi Council of Representatives adjourned the session to elect a replacement for Muhammad al-Halbousi, Speaker of Parliament, whose membership was canceled by order of the Federal Court.[/size]
    [size=45]The second round of electing the Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives was held in the presence of 232 deputies, after a delay that extended for several hours after the end of the first round on Saturday evening.[/size]
    [size=45]A quarrel between representatives led to the adjournment of the session, according to parliamentary sources.[/size]
    [size=45]The first round of voting for the new Speaker of the House of Representatives ended earlier on Saturday, with Al-Halbousi’s candidate, Shaalan Al-Karim, leading with 152 votes, and MP Salem Al-Issawi, the Sovereignty Alliance’s candidate, coming behind him with 97 votes.[/size]
    [size=45]On Saturday afternoon, the House of Representatives began the voting process to elect a new Speaker of the House, an alternative to former President Muhammad al-Halbousi.[/size]
    [size=45]The number of candidates for the position of Speaker of the House of Representatives reached five representatives: Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani, Salem Al-Issawi, Shalan Al-Karim, Talal Al-Zubaie, and Amer Abdul-Jabbar, while the sixth candidate, Abdul-Rahim Al-Shammari, withdrew before the session was held.[/size]
    [size=45]Since the end of Al-Halbousi's membership in the House of Representatives, the Council has held several sessions to elect a new speaker, but the issue was not raised in those sessions due to the heads of the political blocs not agreeing on the alternative candidate.[/size]
