The Director General of the Petroleum Products Distribution Company, Hussein Talib, revealed that the volume of improved gasoline consumption during the winter increased to 5 million liters per day.
Talib said, in a press release from the Ministry of Oil, a copy of which was obtained by Al-Iqtisad News, “The consumption of improved and super gasoline amounted to 18% of the total gasoline consumed domestically only, which amounts to 32 million liters per day.”
He added that the Ministry's priority is to provide regular gasoline, which is sold at a price of 450 dinars per liter, and is the type most consumed by citizens, as it constitutes 82% of the total daily consumption.
Talib pointed out that in 2023 the amount of imports amounted to 14-15 million liters per day at a cost of one thousand dinars, but today it is at a cost ranging from 800-850 dinars.
The Director General of the Petroleum Products Distribution Company noted that the Karbala refinery contributed to reducing gasoline imports by 8 million liters per day, and that operating the northern refineries will contribute to reducing imports to 4 million liters per day.
He stressed that regular gasoline, which is sold at a price of 450 dinars per liter, along with gas oil fuel, enjoy the support of the state and the government.
He added that the daily quantities of improved and super gasoline consumed constitute 18% of the total daily consumption, which amounts to 32 million liters of gasoline of all types.
He explained that 80% of the quantities of improved gasoline are imported from abroad, especially its consumption, which reaches 5 million at the peak of the summer season.
Talib concluded his speech by saying that super gasoline is completely imported and costs the state 1,400 dinars per liter.
