The official of the fourth branch of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Ari Harsin, confirmed today, Wednesday, that the party submitted its observations about the region’s elections and is awaiting the will and report of the Kurdish people regarding the decisions of the Federal Court, which he described as “fascist.”
Ari Harsin said, during a press conference, that the Kurdistan Democratic Party did not present a project or program regarding the elections, but rather expressed its observations and left the decision to the people.
He added, if the Iraqi Federal Court is able to dissolve the government and the presidency, then let it do so, noting that if the Kurdistan political parties are satisfied with the threat to the entity of the region, “then I will surrender to their oath,” as he put it.
Harsin stressed that the elections will not be held without the Kurdistan Democratic Party, adding that “the Federal Court is a fascist court and there will be no elections.”
Earlier, the representative of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Majid Shankali, ruled out holding elections for the Kurdistan Regional Parliament in light of the boycott of his party, warning of the occurrence of “major and dangerous” problems, at a time when the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan renewed its insistence on holding the elections on the specified date, and saw that the court’s decisions Iraqi federalism was in favor of the region.
Yesterday, Tuesday, Kurdish leader Masoud Barzani stressed the need to address all technical obstacles and constitutional and legal violations of the Kurdistan Region elections file, and stressed that the Kurdistan Democratic Party is the founder of legitimacy and elections in the region, and that it supports holding free and fair elections.
The Independent High Electoral Commission in Erbil announced that the Kurdistan Democratic Party did not submit its participation papers in the Kurdistan Region elections, after the “Party” announced on March 18, a boycott of the parliamentary elections.
The Democrat threatened to leave the political process in Iraq in the event that the “State Administration” coalition did not commit to implementing the agreements, following the Federal Court’s issuance of decisions regarding the Kurdistan Parliament elections law, which included the abolition of “quota” seats, and that the Independent High Commission for Federal Elections be dissolved instead of the Kurdistan Parliament.
