On Monday, the Parliamentary Finance Committee announced the latest developments in amending the retirement law, indicating that it is awaiting the arrival of the draft law to review its details.
Committee member Mustafa Khalil said, in an interview followed by Al-Eqtisad News, that “there are moves by the National Retirement Authority to amend the retirement law,” pointing out that “the issue of returning the retirement age to 63 years is not specified in a specific paragraph.”
He added, "There is communication with the Council of Ministers regarding amending the law, as the draft amendment to the law is still within the corridors of the Council of Ministers."
A member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee pointed out, “The retirement age is part of the discussions, but the House of Representatives is waiting for the draft law to arrive from the Council of Ministers to review its details.”
Last March, the Parliamentary Finance Committee stressed the necessity of reconsidering the paragraph of reducing the retirement age from 63 to 60 years.
