The leader of the Taqadum Party, Anwar Al-Alwani, said on Sunday that his party’s opponents are “trying to sell the Sunni component,” while he suggested nominating a woman for the position of Speaker of Parliament.

Al-Alwani said, in an interview with the Twenty program broadcast on Al-Sumaria TV, that “the leader of the Taqaddam Party, Muhammad al-Halbousi, swept the elections despite his departure from the presidency of Parliament.”

He stressed that "the dispute will end soon over the crisis of presidency of the House of Representatives," adding, "We may nominate a woman for the position."

Al-Alwani added, “The largest bloc is the Taqaddum Party, and the number of its members is subject to increase,”  and he concluded: “Al-Halbousi’s opponents are trying to sell the [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] component.”
