Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani announced today, Saturday, the allocation of 182 billion dinars to expand the mosque and shrine of Imam Abu Hanifa al-Nu'man (may God be pleased with him) to accommodate visitors.
A statement from al-Sudani's office received by Mawazine News stated that the latter "met with sheikhs and dignitaries of the Adhamiya district, in the presence of the Governor of Baghdad, the Mayor of Baghdad, the Director of the Prime Minister's Office, and the Head of the Administrative Unit, during his visit to the city today, Saturday."
Al-Sudani stressed "the continuation of the approach of communicating with citizens in various parts of Iraq, to stand on services and listen to the most important complaints and suggestions, and everything that enhances the provision of services and improves the performance of state departments, and the importance of presence and following up on the implementation of projects and the performance of the relevant service departments, pointing to the uniqueness of the city of Adhamiya, with its cultural, religious and social history, and that it is a symbol of brotherhood, based on the position of the martyr Othman al-Obeidi, and what is available to it to be an important tourist and religious attraction area, including the shrines of Islamic jurists."
The Prime Minister explained that "the service and living conditions of the district in general were monitored by a specialized committee, and in light of that, a package of projects was announced that included the municipality, education and health sectors, and direct supervision of the completion of the rehabilitation project of Al-Nu'man Hospital after addressing the causes of its delay, in addition to projects to resolve traffic congestion that will be started soon, and the rehabilitation of some residential areas, in addition to stalled projects, including the Adhamiya Youth Forum, and the Al-Salihiya area was included within the tasks of the formed committee, and that the completion of these projects will bring about a qualitative shift in the services provided to the district."
He pointed out that "the procedures for expanding the mosque and shrine of Imam Abu Hanifa Al-Nu'man (may God be pleased with him) have been completed to accommodate visitors, as an amount of 182 billion dinars has been allocated for this purpose, and a multi-storey car park will be established attached to the Hanafi shrine, which will provide additional activity for Adhamiya and the city of Baghdad in general."
He stressed "the importance of the support provided by the local community, sheikhs and dignitaries in Al-A'dhamiyah district, to continue the work of all state service departments, within a responsible cooperative and mutually supportive relationship that achieves the desired service and social goals."
