Mawazine News - Baghdad
Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani stressed, on Saturday, the focus on completing hospital projects, noting that there are 8 projects under construction in the capital, Baghdad.
A statement from his office received by (Mawazine News) stated that "Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani inaugurated today, Saturday, the emergency building at Yarmouk Teaching Hospital, after its reconstruction and rehabilitation," noting that "al-Sudani toured the corridors of the building, during which he was briefed on the comprehensive rehabilitation operations in it, and the modern medical devices that the emergency department was equipped with."
Al-Sudani blessed "all the efforts made in rehabilitating the building and departments," stressing "the completion of the first phase in Yarmouk Hospital through the rehabilitation of the emergency department, and he also appreciated the efforts of Baghdad Governorate in supporting these projects."
Al-Sudani explained that "the second phase of the rehabilitation process will target the fractures, internal medicine, surgery, consulting and burns departments in this hospital, which represents a miniature medical city," directing "to provide financial allocations for the second phase of rehabilitation so that the entire Yarmouk Hospital complex appears decent and good."
He stressed that "the health sector represents the most important service sectors provided by the government, and that any service can be delayed, except for the health service, which still faces great challenges in the field of infrastructure."
During the tour, the Prime Minister met "the hospital workers, including doctors, who listened to the most important details of their work and the obstacles to performing their duties, and directed to provide all the requirements to facilitate their provision of service in the hospital." It is noteworthy
that work began on the rehabilitation of the Yarmouk Hospital emergency building in October of last year, and included the restoration of all emergency joints from systems and infrastructure, the rehabilitation of 7 major operating rooms, and rooms for minor operations with modern specifications, and the completion of an integrated medical gas system, and 30 additional beds were added to bring the total bed capacity to more than 107 beds.
The building includes a surgical emergency hall and another internal emergency hall, a pulmonary resuscitation hall with a capacity of 18 beds, a pharmacy, a laboratory and a blood bank, and the building was equipped with resonance, CT and X-ray devices, a modern monitoring system, and the rest of the services.
The following are the most prominent points made by the Prime Minister during the inauguration of the emergency building at Yarmouk Hospital:
- We started with the beginning of the government's work, and urgently, to rehabilitate hospitals with the participation of service effort teams.
- The first phase of rehabilitation provided a new reality that citizens and our medical staff can see, to enable them to deal with the large population density in Baghdad.
- Yarmouk Hospital is the hub for providing health services in the Karkh side of Baghdad, and is witnessing great pressure.
- We focused on completing hospital projects, and we have 8 projects under construction in Baghdad Governorate.
- We started receiving major hospitals in the governorates (499 bed capacity).
- We moved to the first model of operation with joint management, and the first launch from Najaf Al-Ashraf.
- The joint operation model will take into account the varying capabilities of citizens, in providing various treatments, and receiving specialist doctors.
- We addressed in the Council of Ministers, through a series of decisions, all the administrative and financial obstacles and complications that prevent the completion of hospital projects.
- The Ministry of Health is moving forward to change the philosophy of health care by implementing the health insurance law, which represents an important shift that will change the form of service.
- A large percentage of citizens go outside Iraq for treatment, which costs the state huge amounts of hard currency and is a burden on the citizen.
- There are countries that do not have resources that are moving towards establishing hospitals and medical centers to support their budgets as a form of economic expansion.
- Doctors' homes must be prepared in a professional and appropriate manner that suits the tasks entrusted to them.
