New plan to secure borders with Syria

The security leadership has developed new plans to secure the border strip with Syria, while carrying out preemptive operations south of the capital, Baghdad, coinciding with the approach of the Arbaeen visit.
The security plans came based on the directives of the Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, and were discussed during an inspection visit by a high-level security delegation that included the Deputy Commander of Joint Operations and the Chief of Staff of the Popular Mobilization Authority to the units in the Nineveh and Western Commands, reaching the Iraqi-Syrian border.
The plans included reopening, holding the sectors, closing the gaps, securing the depth, reserve and support by the army and Popular Mobilization units for the border sectors, in addition to coupling the ranks and tightening all the ends on the borders separating the sectors, defining duties and responsibilities, and securing command and control.
It is noteworthy that the intensive field visits come for the purpose of completing the requirements of combat, administrative and technical readiness in a manner that is consistent with the type and nature of the challenges, and the importance of employing various resources to build capabilities, raise the level of readiness and work in the spirit of one team.
The leaders praised the readiness, determination, steadfastness and great efforts made by our heroic units of various types in these vast desert areas. They also commended the high levels of achievement of fortifications and obstacles, the use of technical resources, and the high level of cooperation and coordination between the army, interior and popular mobilization units. A
high-level security meeting preceded the inspection visit held by the head of the Popular Mobilization Authority, Abdul Aziz Al-Muhammadawi, west of Nineveh Governorate, in the presence of the Deputy Commander of Joint Operations, Lieutenant General Qais Al-Muhammadawi.
During the meeting, Abdul Aziz Al-Muhammadawi stressed the need to continue preemptive operations and enhance deployment, especially in desert and border areas, praising the level of coordination and cooperation between the Popular Mobilization and the security forces.
In Baghdad, units of the 17th Infantry Division and the units and security services attached to it carried out search, inspection and armed reconnaissance operations in villages, rural areas and orchards in areas south of the capital.
The operations resulted in the arrest of 10 suspects under various legal articles, including a terrorist suspect belonging to the defeated ISIS terrorist gangs after monitoring his location and movements in the western Radwaniyah area.
These operations coincide with the approach of the Arbaeen pilgrimage with the aim of tightening the noose on terrorist elements, drying up their sources, and preventing anyone who dares to tamper with the security of citizens and disturb the pilgrimage.
Meanwhile, the Chief of Staff of the Army, Lieutenant General Abdul Amir Yarallah, arrived in Karbala on Saturday morning, accompanied by the Commander of the Land Forces and the Secretary of Intelligence for the Chief of Staff, to follow up on the latest preparations underway to secure the security and service plan for the Arbaeen pilgrimage.
In turn, the Border Forces Command began deploying in Najaf Governorate to provide protection for visitors and announced in a statement that its units will support the security services.
