Army Chief of Staff Discusses Partnership with NATO

Yesterday, Sunday, the Chief of Staff of the Army, Lieutenant General Special Forces, Abdul Amir Rashid Yarallah, discussed with the Commander of the NATO Mission in Iraq, Lieutenant General Lucas Schweizers, expanding the partnership at the training level.
A statement by the Ministry of Defense stated that "the Chief of Staff of the Army met with the Commander of the NATO Mission in Iraq and a number of its advisors, and from the Iraqi side the Director of Public Relations attended." He added that "during the meeting, aspects of cooperation, coordination and expanding the partnership at the training level were discussed, in addition to providing expertise in the joints of the military institution, to develop the capabilities of the Iraqi army."
Meanwhile, the Chief of Staff of the Army denied the "rumors" that promote the collapse of the security situation in Nineveh Governorate towards the Syrian border.
Nineveh MP Talib Al-Maamari said in a press statement that he "met with the Chief of Staff of the Army and discussed with him the security developments on the Iraqi-Syrian border."
Al-Maamari explained that "the meeting addressed the rumors being spread about the deterioration of the security situation on the border," indicating that "Yarallah confirmed that the security preparations in the Nineveh sector are at their highest levels, and denied what he described as the allegations of malicious people, and stressed that the situation in Nineveh is under the control of the Iraqi military units." Al-Maamari called on "citizens not to believe the rumors being spread by malicious people, and to rely on information from the competent authorities."
In addition, the Security Media Cell denied the news about the difficulty of security forces reaching areas in Wadi Hawran in the Anbar desert.
The statement of the cell stated, "We would like to point out that our security forces in the Ministries of Defense and Interior and the Popular Mobilization Forces have the capabilities, capacities and experience that enable them to impose their full control in all areas and have modern combat and technical resources that enable them to reach any place," indicating that these "forces carry out many preemptive operations, the latest of which was carried out the day before yesterday, Saturday, a preemptive security operation in Wadi Hawran, this area that witnesses almost weekly inspection and monitoring operations with the latest devices and means."
Meanwhile, the Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Securing the Arbaeen Pilgrimage, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, directed yesterday, Sunday, to intensify efforts and prevent any attempt to disturb security.
A statement by the ministry said, "Al-Shammari visited the headquarters of the Third Region Command in the Border Forces Command, and was briefed on the most important security duties and tasks it carries out," noting that "Al-Shammari directed to intensify efforts and prevent any attempt to disturb security within the area of responsibility."
For his part, the commander of Baghdad Operations, Lieutenant General Walid Khalifa Al-Tamimi, set the date for the implementation of the Arbaeen pilgrimage plan. Al-Tamimi told "WAA": "The plan to secure the Arbaeen pilgrimage in the capital will begin tomorrow, Tuesday, August 13, to secure the roads taken by visitors to the holy city of Karbala."
