Warning against Basra separation from Iraq, al-Hakeem
    6:00 AM  ADMIN
Baghdad/ Iraq TradeLink: Chairman of the National Alliance Ammar al-Hakeem regarded the

Kurdish call for the independence referendum will put Iraq within a political tsunami that will lead to the separation of more Iraqi province, mostly Basra will be.

In a political meeting, he warned against these inclinations, calling the world country, particularly the US administration, to say their  "clear" words on the unity of Iraq, not just statement.

He pointed that the Kurdish separation has not constitutional basics, though the self-determination is a human right, but "the problem lies how we will do it".

"The Kurds agreed to be within Iraq twice, the first in 1917 and the second in 2005 when they voted for a unified federal country through a constitution that preserved the rights of all", he added.

Al-Hakeem pointed that the separation question is a federal question, thus rejecting the status quo by imitating others' projects and attempts.

He suggested that the only solution should be through dialogue with the federal administration.

Earlier, the local administration of al-Siba area, south of Basra province, submitted a request to the central government, on 3 July, 2017, to be separated from Iraq and join any of the neighboring countries, attributing this request to lack of services and continued sufferings.
