    Sommer News: Follow-up

Iranian Energy Minister for Electricity Affairs Assistant Hooshang Flaanaan announced on Monday that Iraq has paid $ 500 million of debt incurred by him for the purchase of electricity from Iran.

The news agency quoted the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRNA) quoted him as saying: "The Iraq paid $ 500 million of debt owed by Iran over the past four months, while the remaining $ 800 million of this debt."

He added that "the pace of debt owed to repay Iraq Iran has improved, with the Iraqi side promised during the last round of talks that will pay within the next two weeks a new batch of these debts."

Iraq was announced in March / March last Iran's resumption of the export of electric power to him after a pause lasted for about two months. The Iraqi sources said that Iran had halted the export of electricity to Iraq because of the accumulation of debt, while Iran announced that the suspension is the reason for termination of the contract and announced later to reach a new contract.
