About 25 percent of oil production in the Gulf of Mexico has been halted by Hurricane Harvey, the US Environmental and Safety Office said on Saturday.
The equivalent of about 428 thousand barrels of oil per day of the total of 1.75 million barrels is pumped every day from the region. Production has fallen more since Friday, when it was around 22 percent.
Harvey caused about 26 percent of the natural gas production in the Gulf of Mexico, equivalent to about 835 million cubic feet per day, the office said.
