Iraq calls for stopping "genocide" against Rohingya Muslims
Baghdad / Range
Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi condemned the "genocide" against the Muslim minority of the Rohingya in Myanmar and called on the United Nations and the OIC to take a firm stand against these violations against humanity.
This came during a letter from Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi to the United Nations, the Organization for Islamic Cooperation and sisterly and friendly countries, and its follow-up.
"The genocide campaign against the Rohingya minority in Myanmar's Rakhine province by the Burmese government forces is systematic and requires an international and humanitarian attitude commensurate with the level of violations and widespread crimes set forth in the report of the Commission of Inquiry mandated by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) ) And through the accounts of many refugees confirmed by the evidence provided by satellite and other illustrated evidence.
"These violations included horrific crimes of murder (in addition to horrific methods of slaughter), the rape of women individually and collectively, even young girls, the torture, displacement, abduction of civilians, the pursuit of the scorched earth policy, and the dropping of the most basic human and human rights for them, War crimes and crimes against humanity ". "We have suffered a great deal in Iraq from the blind fanaticism of terrorists and extremists who have brought corruption to the land, killed innocents, abused women and children, and sold them in the markets of slavery," he said.
The prime minister pointed out that "Iraq has been attacked by terrorist fanaticism against all innocent citizens and against minorities. Such fanaticism destroys societies, including the same societies that are motivated by this fanaticism, and the free world can not tolerate this blind fanaticism against the vulnerable minorities and humanity."
"The United Nations Organization to take a firm stand against these violations against humanity and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to convene an emergency meeting of foreign ministers of Islamic countries to take urgent action to stop these abhorrent violations."
Abadi also called for "the formation of an international coalition to save the Rohingya minority and stop this criminal fanaticism and bloodshed and displacement in Myanmar."
In turn, the Iraqi Foreign Ministry announced its rejection of crimes committed by the government in Myanmar against the Muslim Rohingya minority.
"It expresses its categorical rejection and condemnation of the crimes and atrocities committed by the government authorities in Myanmar against the safe Rohingya Muslim minority in the western province of Arakan and the unjustifiable brutality and brutality of the Muslims there," the ministry said in a statement. .
"The United Nations and all the institutions of the international community and all Islamic and Arab countries must take all necessary measures to stop these brutal massacres, which are less than their counterparts in the world, in addition to seriously opening the way for the arrival of teams and humanitarian aid to the Rohingyas immediately," it said.
In a related context, called the head of the parliamentary advocacy bloc MP Khalaf Abdul Samad government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to move to save the Muslims of Burma.
"The Muslims of the Rohingya people of Myanmar are being subjected to an inhuman and brutal atrocity," Abdul Samad said in a statement. "No human being carries an atom of humanity to remain silent in the face of these terrible massacres. This peaceful Muslim people. "
The Al-Hal Party, the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), has demanded a courageous stance towards this.
"The representative of Iraq in the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) is adopting a draft resolution that calls upon the Organization of the Islamic Conference to adopt a courageous and responsible attitude towards the crimes committed by the government of Burma against the Muslims in the country," the party said in a statement.
"The silence of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights to abandon its responsibilities and justification for the Government of Burma to further assassinate and abuse children and women and Muslim youth in Myanmar."
The United Nations said on Monday that 87,000 people, most of them Muslim Rohingyas, had fled the violence and were able to cross into Bangladesh while another 20,000 were waiting to cross.
