(International: Al Furat News) British Home Secretary Amber Rudd has called for strict laws to limit the viewing of "terrorist propaganda" on the Internet, bringing the penalty to 15 years in case of repeated viewing of the terrorist content.
"The anti-terrorism laws have to be updated to keep pace with modern online behavior and to tackle extremism on the Internet," Rudd told a ruling Conservative Congress party in Manchester on Tuesday night.
According to the Home Office, 44,000 e-mail addresses were created to promote the terrorist organization during the first eight months of 2017.
The proposed punishment also applies to terrorists who publish information about members of the armed forces, police and intelligence services for the purpose of preparing acts of terrorism.
"There is now a gap in the law about the material that is being viewed, or is being broadcast from the Internet without being permanently downloaded," she said.
"This is an increasingly common means by means of materials that are accessed online for criminal purposes, and is particularly prevalent in the presentation of extremist material such as videos and Internet pages," she said.
