Britain's Interior Minister Amber Rudd said on Tuesday that the government was in jail for up to 15 years for the "terrorist" content on the Internet.

"It will come under the Anti-Terrorism Act, which will be updated soon," Rod said in a speech to the ruling Conservative Party's autumn conference.

The minister called on Internet companies and social media to "work immediately" and remove extreme content from their pages.

The government would prevent the sale of acidic chemicals to any person under the age of 18, and reduce the sale of sulfuric acid, which can be used in the manufacture of explosives.

"The government intends to amend the current law so that people who frequently watch terrorist content on the Internet can be prosecuted and punished by up to 15 years' imprisonment," a government statement said.

He added that the amendment was part of "a broad review of the government's counter-terrorism strategy, following the terrorist attacks this year."

Under the current anti-terrorism law, charges may be brought against those who download, store or print any such content.

Under the proposed amendment, the term "terrorists who disseminate information about members of the armed forces, police and intelligence services for the purpose of preparing acts of terrorism" shall also be subject to imprisonment, according to the Government statement.

Britain has witnessed four terrorist attacks this year, killing 36 people.
