    The Supreme National Committee for Poverty Reduction and Treatment of Slums in Iraq, affiliated to the Prime Minister's Council, held its last meeting to finalize the Slum Treatment Law before it was approved. The government adopted a new strategy to house 3 million Iraqis living in these slums, For investors.

    The Ministry of Planning announced the rise of the number of slums in Iraq between 2003 and 2012 to more than 1552 random population of about 3 million Iraqis, and increased after 2012 to 2434 random.

    But the Iraqi government did not recognize the recent increase in slums, and stressed that these areas are not covered by the new law to be legislated early next year, because they are not registered in the records of the Ministry of Planning.

    According to the newspaper "Life", reviewed the Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers Mahdi Alallak, the project to eliminate slums in all provinces, stressing the completion of the inventory through air maps, and stressed that the committee charged with the strategy of poverty alleviation works to housing about 3 million people living in slums in the complexes Housing.

    A study by the Ministry of Planning showed that the poverty rate in the provinces controlled by the Da'ash terrorist organization increased to 41 percent, while in Baghdad it reached 13 percent, in the central governorates 19 percent, the south 31.5 percent, and in the Kurdistan region 12.5 percent.
