The Special Envoy of the Russian President to Syria, Alexander Lavrinetiev, confirmed that the participants in the Syrian National Dialogue Conference in Sochi have adopted three documents, noting that the work will continue within Geneva.
"Three documents have been approved, namely the final communiqué, the message of the participants and the list of candidates for the committee to study issues related to the drafting of the constitution," Lafrintev told a news conference after the conference ended.
"The Syrian National Dialogue Conference seeks to support the Geneva process in line with UN Security Council Resolution 2254," he said.
"The success of the Sochi conference will be a catalyst for the success of the Syrian settlement process in Geneva," Lavrentyev said.
He accused the Russian envoy to Syria, "some opponents who came from Ankara" to seek to frustrate the conference and not to participate in Sochi.
On the other hand, Lavrenteev pointed out that it is not unlikely to hold a second round of the Syrian national dialogue, but in the form and framework of others.
The Russian official said that the new meeting of the guarantors of the Astana process, namely Russia, Turkey and Iran, which are responsible for holding the Sochi Conference, will be held in late February.
Turning to the details of the constitutional committee, the Russian official explained that the participants in the Sochi Conference had ratified the list of 150 members of the committee, but stressed that the final composition of the committee and its framework would be determined by de Mistura, who could include other members.
Lafrintev said that the final statement of the conference does not set a timetable for the approval of the composition of the constitutional committee, considering that this is true, while expressing the hope that de Mistura will launch work on constitutional reform soon.
He pointed out that the two members of the constitutional committee will include representatives of the Syrian government, while the other third will include representatives of the opposition, but pointed out, however, that this body may join the work of representatives of the Syrian opposition groups, which did not participate in the Sochi.
