The parliamentary Change Bloc on Friday revealed that the ruling Barzani and Talabani parties in Kurdistan were rigging votes for their remaining in power, asserting that differences with Baghdad would be resolved after the change of the Kurdistan government.
"The Kurdish people can change the government of Kurdistan through the elections, but the two ruling parties in the region control the election commission," MP Taafka Ahmed told the Maalouma newspaper.
"The Barzani and Talabani parties are manipulating voters even if they do not win the elections," she said. "The Barzani and Talabani families control the region despite Massoud Barzani and the death of Jalal Talabani, but the region is headed today by Nizarban Barzani, nephew of Massoud and his deputy, Qubad Talabani. "He said.
"Massoud's resignation has not changed anything in Kurdistan, where the names have changed only, and the same policies are still practiced by the two ruling parties," she said.
She stressed that "the problems between Baghdad and Erbil, especially the economic ones, did not resolve the change of faces, while it would be resolved if the entire government in the region."
