The United States has confirmed that it will not support certain individuals or parties in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

"We do not support individuals or parties in the elections. We stand with Iraq and deal with it as a state governed by a constitution. We are dealing with all its political forces on an equal footing with its various orientations. Democracy remains the best way to solve problems," US Ambassador to Baghdad Douglas Silliman said in a press statement.

"The development of democracy in Iraq depends on the Iraqi people, and it is necessary for reconciliation and dialogue, both at the level of the components of society and political components."

"We are providing advisory support to the Electoral Commission, we will be official observers with the rest of the missions and the United Nations in monitoring and assisting NGOs, and we are now focusing on making the elections as fair, fair and transparent as possible."
