The Iranian cabinet on Wednesday granted confidence to Abdel Nasser Hamati as governor of Iran's central bank.
Iranian President Hassan Rowhani said that Hamati holds university degrees and has experience in banking and insurance, and enjoys a spirit of activity and work.
Rohani said reforming the banking system, fiscal policies, improving international banking relations, developing bilateral financial security systems and protecting foreign exchange deposits were priorities of a central bank governor.
President Rouhani also praised the efforts of the former governor and Crown Prince, "pointing to the completion of many successes during the last period."
