    The Iranian MP Mahmoud Sadeghi on Thursday called on Iraq to pay about $ 1100 billion in compensation for the Iran-Iraq war in response to a pledge by Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi to commit his country to US sanctions against Iran.

    "The Iraqi government owes Iran compensation for damages caused by the war on Iran and is estimated at about $ 1100 billion in accordance with Article 6 of UN resolution 598," Sadeghi said in a tweet on Twitter.

    "The Iranian government has delayed the demand for the Iraqi people because of its ordeal. Now the Iraqi prime minister is accompanying the repressive sanctions against the Iranian people instead of compensating."

    Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi said on Tuesday that Iraq would not react to US sanctions against Iran but would abide by the interests of the Iraqi people.

    Vice President Masoumah Ibtikar on Friday called on the Iraqi government to pay compensation for damage to the environment caused by the eight-year war between the two countries in the 1980s. "The environmental compensation for the Iraq war, the Kuwaiti war and the billions of dollars worth of damage to the Gulf have to be added. The eighth government (referring to the government of former reformist president Mohammad Khatami ) has been referred to the UN Committee ,"
