Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari discussed with Kuwaiti Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sabah Khalid Ahmad Al-Sabah during the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York bilateral relations between the two countries and the prospects for upgrading them to meet the aspirations of the two brotherly countries.

He stressed that "the Iraqi government is keen to uncover the remains of missing Kuwaitis in Iraq, and readiness to provide all assistance to the technical committees that follow up the issue of missing Kuwaitis," noting the "extraordinary efforts by the Iraqi Foreign Ministry in the collection of documents, and some books, and Kuwaiti art holdings, To determine the date by the Kuwaiti side to receive it. "
Jaafari called for "the need to coordinate and work to prevent excesses that affect the Iraqi fishermen in the territorial waters between the two countries."
For his part, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Kuwait stressed his country's keenness to follow up on the outcome of the Kuwait International Conference for the Reconstruction of Iraq and readiness to urge the international community to fulfill its commitments, praising the role and efforts of Iraq in the success of the work of the joint committee between the two countries.
